I almost died laughing at the meeting last night. OMG WTF is going on? Have I been away this long?
by macys inok so most of you guys know already that i am going through the reinstatement process for my parents but i do have a partially sinister plan which i will not mention here since someone told me that there are b-lites that read boards like this.
last night and it was the funniest experience i have ever seen.
besides that the brother doing the sound and video screwed up the whole thing when showing the videos and it took 3 brothers to fix it after 10 minutes, the whole thing was a joke.

What I don't understand is what was wrong with the old Kingdum Songs? Seems like there is no tradition anymore. I think I understand why the change, to appeal to a younger generation and to heck with the old timers. They figure in order to survive they must change. It was like the video I watched a while back that had a band playing a "worldly" song in a Kingdum Hall and dancing. I was shocked as they would have never allowed this when I was a teenager. Old Freddie is rolling in his grave. All these young whipper snappers would be DF'd in Freddies day. -

Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?
by slimboyfat inrecent developments make me think they might be.
the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.
one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

Then there was cancelling the book study. Didn't the GB realise that for ordinary JWs this was socially the most important meeting?
I stated this in an earlier post about how the convention have become so sanitized. Again the GB doesn't recognize that the conventions were also a social event for the rank and file. They blew it when they stopped the food services at conventions. Sure some of the brother and sisters were too busy volunteering but it acted as a social function and made the ordinary R&F members feel important and that they contributed to the success of the convention. These old men of the GB have no concept of what the regular R&F members think and feel. Sure we all just accepted this as "Jehovah" directing the GB but you deep down a lot of members questioned their changes.

Who thinks Wt is going to throw Vincent Tool under the bus if he loses his law registration.
by joe134cd injust read speculation about this on another thread.
who thinks vincent tool, if looses his law license and becomes less useful to wt that he will then be reassigned to the field.
or is he just to big of a player to lose even with out a practicing law license.

If I were the WTS, I'd think twice before screwing one of my own attorneys.
Especially if he still has access to confidential info, and knows there is a possibility of the WTS screwing him over.
I would think any attorney's that are obtained by the WT would have to sign some sort of a non-disclosure agreement or confidentiality agreement that anything they know is confidential and could be held libel if they talk about after.

My mom left all her money to us kids. I was surprised that she not leave something with the WT although I know over the years the WT got enough through mom and dad's yearly donations.
All I know is this cult will never get one more cent out of me.

Does anyone have the original copy of the Awake 2015 Jan before it was changed?
by jwfacts injan used a famous scientist to garner misleading support for creation, quoting rama singh as saying "the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
2015 jan p.3) whilst the quote is accurate, it misrepresents singh's intention.
singh continues in the same paragraph, "there are several reasons why facts of evolution are not easily comprehensible by the general masses.

I remember when I went to the KH with a beard on they would give me the dirtiest looks. Funny though some of my family members liked it. -

Ha ha ha they are getting cheaper and cheaper but I bet they want the same contributions though. I seen one of those stupid carts way out in the middle of no where and to actually think they put in time when they are not talking to anyone. -

The Dubs and marraige
by William Penwell injust have to rant here for a bit.. i was on the phone earlier with my dub sister.
she was telling me how her daughter, my niece, just met a "nice man" (i take it he is a good dub), that things were going good and that if things go as plan they would probably be married this coming summer.
now this is after my niece just got out of a dysfunctional marriage of 20 years and their divorce was just finalized this last november.

Ironically, all the obsession and preoccupation with the lures of sexuality cause MORE of a "forbidden fruit" mentality that leads to more sexual activity not less!
I speak out of my own experience as I always felt the only reason I got marries was to obtain that "forbidden fruit". Me and the ex were not compatible and it ended up in a loveless marriage where I was only doing my duty to work and provide for my family. Thus my marriage eventually fell apart.
William-Your niece must be approaching 40. The number of available men in the Borg her age are few and far between. She may be afraid that if she doesn't 'take' this guy, she will miss the boat altogether and be forced to spend her life alone forever. It is just the mentality of the JW's. They can't just meet and date and have a nice time, dating is always a means to an end in the Borg.
Yes she is about that age. I was on my own for almost twenty years. I learned the hard way it is better to be happy and alone rather than in a relationship and miserable. I do understand where my niece is coming from as knowing the bad advice she is probably getting from the elders and family, although it did not surprise me when I heard the news.

Laugh-out-Loud BS from Insight Book
by berrygerry inhow would it be possible in 1,000 years to resurrect and educate the billions now in the grave?.
nevertheless, an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing jehovah has in mind for mankind.
not to prophesy, but merely for the purpose of illustration, let us assume that those who compose the great crowd of righteous persons who come out of the great tribulation on this system of things alive (re 7:9, 14) number about 6,000,000 (about 1/1000 of earths present population).
